Summary:
This position prepares items for shipment. Verifies and keeps records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Counts, weighs, measures and/or compares identifying information of incoming and outgoing shipments for verification against bill of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
- Determines the appropriate method of shipment.
- Affixes shipping labels, stamps/stencils/or glues identifying information and shipping instructions on crates and/or containers.
- Posts weights and affixes appropriate postage.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and correspondence with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to proper department.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Stage material for production.
- Assist with period-end inventory.
- Moves material from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
- Maintain 5S standards.
